    Hd3850

Hey since im eagerly awaiting xmas since im getting a new pc ive been looking through my list and the gfx card in my list was this 8800gt http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/Produ...oductID=708007

but after looking around i saw and ATI gfx card the hd3850 for 13p more and slightly better than the 8800gt...

    http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/Produ...oductID=707470

Could you guys help me out?

Also could you give me your opinions on wether i should stick with this mobo http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/Produ...oductID=615972

Or opt for one of these Gygabyte ones wich came higly recommended in this months Custom pc's mobo tests http://www.scan.co.uk/search/search....ia=ga+p31+ds3l

And spend the extra money on maybe better psu or slightly better gfx card.

    Thx in advance

first get the 8800gt - if you have the money get the 512mb version its much better and you wont have to upgrade again soon

    second your motherboard is fine

and third what psu do you have?

ok the 8800gt 512mb is better because
        1. it is faster
        2. it can display games better
        3. it will be longer before you have to upgrade your gfx card again

and that power supply should be fine but im not an expert on psu's so dont go by what i say

Yes i know the 512mb is better than an 256 mb hd3850 but i was comparing the 256mb 8800gt to the 256mb hd3850 since as stated in my above post i cannot afford the 512mb...

Well ok but WHY/HOW!?!? the ATI has 8mhz more GPU speed, 256Mhz more memory speed, 208 more pipelines/stream processors...so how does the 8800gt "kick its arse"?

I would really like to have a more informed answer to my qusetion rather than a fanboy saying "Gfx card A is better"..please give me reasons...

The 8800GT is still slightly better than the 3870. And thats coming from a hardcore ATI fan.
