My local Fry's is selling some PC6400 RAM 2x1gb from Adata for $28 and 2x2gb from Patriot for $100.

Not sure how good those brands are, but I just got some Corsair ram for $40.

That's the price range I like for 2GB kit with these timings. Not gonna order them though since I got 2GB already with even better timings.

Anyone noticed any benefits in Vista 32bit going from 2GB to 4GB?

I went from 2gb to 3gb. My Geil stuff arrived today, and its running nicely with my existing OCZ stuff. I notice a faster time between when windows loads and its ready to use. Plus, CoD4 isn't quite as jumpy.

Plus, Vista uses like 700mb of memory straight off the bat which is scary!

I've been monitoring the Vista mem usage and it's a big hog. Even though I know that Vista loads up the most used components etc. to mem when starting up and reserves mem for those it's quite hungry for more. That's why the core stuff loads up quite quickly but the HD keeps on spinning for quite a time after the Vista has started up. Even though they claim that Vista can release the reserved mem I doubt it's as easy or fast as they claim.

I can easily achieve 95% utilization when I start 2142 and that has started me to think about getting another stick to go with.

Moving to 3GB resulted in a hefty performance boost for me (Vista). Useless without superfetch.
