My friend recently bought his PC which i will be helping him build!

Quick Specs,

Processor ~ AMD Athlon 64 X2 4400+ Dual Core 2.2GHz

Motherboard ~ Abit AN-M2 Socket AM2, Geforce 7025, Dual DDR2, PCI-E, SATA 2, 7.1 Audio, mATX Motherboard

Memory ~ Corsair Value Select 1GB DDR2 667MHz Memory ** x2 Now Has 2 sticks **

HDD ~ Seagate 160GB SATA 2 2MB 7200RPM Hard Disk Drive

PSU ~ Ezcool 450W ATX Power supply

Case ~ CoolerMaster Centurion 5 Black/Silver Case

Graphics Card ~ ATI Sapphire X1950GT PCI-E 256MB DDR3 Graphics Card

The System Was Bought For A Meer £350!

Is It Anyone Good?

And How Is That GFX Card, Iv Heard Mixed Things!

1) What Setting Would It Run BF2 On?
2) Is It A Good Build For The Money
3) Your Opinions!

Lol That was my issue, but it was in Budget and hopefully it should be ok,

althought i will be advising him constantly *SAVE* you need a new PSU lol!

So any other thoughts on the system!

1. Will probably run BF2 all high, I can and have a slightly better processor and a much much worse graphics card
2. If it's worth the money? Well kinda... but I'd save more money and buy a better one instead.
3. I don't really like it since it's not gonna do any well on newer games like Crysis and other games coming up that take a lot of computer power. But if you can't afford any better it's still pretty OK.

You know, my computer runs the games I play fine. Only real problem I've seen is Titan mode in bf2142. It runs CoD4 fine without any problems and a 50+ framerate. And you can see how old mine is starting to get! :)

x800/x850 were some of the first cards (maybe the first?) to have a 256-bit memory interface and core/mem clocks fast enough to use it. 256-bits is the same size highway ATI is still spec'ing their top end cards with (hd3870) after a brief and disatrous flirtation with a 512-bit bus (hd2900xt).

mine was awesome, but i decided to go with a pci-e setup about a year ago. selling it on ebay fetched me almost what i paid for an x1950xt :yay: .

Back on topic:

1) What Setting Would It Run BF2 On?
depends on resolution. 1024x768 all high, 2xAA; 1280-1024 mostly high, no AA, 1600x1200 start getting into medium-ish territory.
2) Is It A Good Build For The Money
not familiar with exact pricing in blighty; $700 is a little more than i'd have paid, but i don't think you got burned.
3) Your Opinions!
2mb cache on that HD is going to slow windows load up times; 2gb was a good move; PSU is definitely powerful enough (with room for gpu overclock) but is it reliable?;

gt v. pro v. 7900gs, also ^ says the gt's don't overclock very well.

EDIT: MAKE SURE YOU DOWNLOAD/INSTALL LATEST DRIVERS. Some major fixes/tweaks in the November catalyst packages.
