Ok thanks mate i wil have a look around for better mobo and better psu and monitor..altough... i cant aford to upgrade al those stuff u pointed out..

hmm just loked at the amd 790 fx and thast the only 7 one scan.co.uk have... and its over 100 pounds.whihc is well over my budget..so i dont think im gona get that...

oh and the hdd...couldnt i just partion that?

how high could you overclock that if you had the right cooling, power, and mobo?

It'll do between 3.0ghz - 3.4ghz. That's typical for a C2D.

I definately second that one. For the sake of a tenner you will get so much more out of it. Get some arctic silver thermal compound (very cheap), and you can use the stock cooler to get you a good overclock.
Re the soundcard, i would suggest you use the money on the rest of the computer, stick to onboard for now, and when in 2 months time or wheatever you have the money, get a proper X-Fi

sorry guys im gonna stick with the amd...but anywho..i have another question...i have been looking at the specs for the cpu and mobo and on the mobo it says it has a fsb of 1000mhz but on the cpu it says it has a 2000mhz fsb...will this be a problem?..do they have to be the same?

It does, i can see the plugs in the picture, and in the specs it says it has 7.1 onboard sound.
You can always get a sound card later, but getting a new mobo and processor isn't as easy.

FSB question:
They are the same, just for the CPU they have given the Frequency, and for the mobo they have given the actual FSB clock speed. (200 x 4 = 1000)

Ha ha, yea, it didnt even matter if the mobo had audio or not, you need to re-choose anyway!

You've made the right call, C2D is the future, wheras AM2 is on its last legs, without the prices to reflect that.
