So when I started playing Battlefield 2 I was so blown away by what the game was like that I ignored things like the annoying lag spike I would get every now and then. Now whilst these lag spikes only last a few seconds and at first were not an issue just like the dripping water torture this small and somewhat insignificant issue is starting to become a real pain in the a**.
It came to ahead the other day whilst I was playing on a UK server with a ping of 21Ms. Now to me that says no lag whatsoever. Yet ever now and then I would get those annoying lag spikes. So off I went to do some research.
The research brought up a service called Windows Zero Config (WZC). So Iam now on a mission to kill this service.
I tried installing the Realtek software for managing my wireless connection. I did this, unticked the WZC box in the programs options and then used services.msc to kill the service totally. Now sometimes it stays connected and sometimes it just drops the connection straight away. Whatever happens I get access for about 10 seconds before it all goes t*ts up.
The computer then keeps trying to connect to the wireless adaptor, it connects, says it's acquiring a network address and then drops the connection and restarts the process again. Reactivating WZC whilst it's doing this restablishes the connection straight away.
