Just to butt in, the prices of cards almost always drop slowly over time (I'd say 3 -4 weeks).

Anyways, I would save up for an 8800. Though the 8600 aren't exactly AMAZING, 8800 would be future proof for a while, longer than the 8600's.

If at all possible i would try get the 8800gt with more VRAM. 256mb probably isn't enough any more, and may struggle at high resolutions are texture heavy games. I believe there is a 512mb version, go for that!

Anandtech, seems to have a very very positive review on the 8800GT. Maybe you should go for that. Cheap(er), and performs better than the GTS, and nearly par with the GTX.

I would stick with brand name manufacturers. They tend to fail less and have better support and warranties. I like EVGA.
