Major Graphics Card Issue

I have a dell dimension E310 computer, it has 2 PCI slots and 1 PCIx1, i have over 2 gigs of ram, and a 2.8 GHz processor, and the only problem is my curren graphics card is a ATI radeon 9250, which sucks for BF2, we basically just need a good graphics that fits into a PCI slot, any suggestions, cuz i really wanna play this game.:salute:

about the best card for PCI. Based on the reference specs,

No promises, on that card should be OK with a mix of medium and low at 1024x768.

9600XT runs BF2 with all settings on low apart from lighting and effects on medium and geometry on high, with about 40-60 FPS normally.

Drops to about 25 when amongst the nade-spammers of karkand but goes up to about 80-120 when in a jet.

All on a system with 2GB PC3200 RAM and a Intel P4 @ 3.20 GHz.

So Stormy, how about at 800x600 with just the dynamics turned off? And will it still be great gameplay? Especially if everying is extremly compatible except for this blasted graphics card. (Hopefully, medium quality).

*sigh* Well, all I really need a PCI graphics card with the BEST performance for this game, for, I relly enjoyed playing it at a friends, heck, i had to let him borraw it so i could play it at his house, he just now unistalled it and gave it back, but that b/c we figure out today that a Vid card he lent me, is a PCI express and all i hae is a PCI-e x1 , and 2 PCI slots lol. All I need is to play this awesome game lol.

^^ link doesnt lead anywhere, but im guessing the x850 isnt a PCI card. its too good to be.

if u do get teh x1550, ud be looking at prob all low with med-high textures, med geometry, med effects.

if you're in the states, look on ebay for an x800xt, x850xt, or 6800gt pci-e gpu.

i'm bidding on one myself, and most modern psu's will handle those ok.

x800xt's/x850's are excellent cards, minus hdr (which you aren't going to want to enable anyway with a sub $200 gpu).

your specs say it has a pci-e slot. can you put a vid card in that?

There may be more PCI-E 1x cards out there but this is what Newegg has,

Your best bet is the x1550 PCIE-1x.

Except for one little minor detail, it is a low profile card. Unless he is using a slim case the only way he can install that card in his computer is to remove the backplate and put on a standard sized one.
