    What are these things?

I was looking around on some tech sites, and I came across these cards:

I realise these are for professionals like CAD and things like that, but can these things be used for gaming (like for crysis)? And how are they compared to the 8800 Ultra?

I'm not thinking about buying one, because.. well... look at the price lol. I'm just interested in what they are

The nVidia is a modified G80/8800x card, the ATi I'm not sure of. They aren't made for gaming.

They are effectively the same hardware as the normal retail cards, however you pay extra for special drivers, software, special support etc... The details were in last months Custom PC i believe.

My workstation at school uses a Quadro 4500. I personally use it for Solidworks and proE. They're 3D modeling and workstation type cards.

I wouldn't be surprised if they're in my school computers, too. The ones we've got in the computer lab are used for 3D design.

I don't know much about the hardware, but I'm pretty sure the drivers have been specially modified for CAD/Workstation use. I've heard of people trying them for games, but they really sucked. So if you do try to play a game with one, don't expect 8800 power.
