    How low?

How bad of a price drop will the 8800 cards go through once the release of 9800 cards and DirectX10.1, oh and OpenGL 3

they should drop a nice bit, considering that 8800's are soon to be obsolete.

    by 8800 I mean the 8800GTS 320MB, which is all I need on a 19" widescreen monitor with native res 1440 x 900, right?

Currently the 8800GTS 320MB is like 300, do you think it will go down to 200, then the 640MB coming down to 300?

The $250 (~$230-$280)part is RV670, aka HD2950XT, to be released in November from what I recall.

edit: oh, back on topic, it would be hard to see the left-over gts's going for more than the $200-$220 range considering that the 2950 8800gt should be better parts and hit at the $250-$300 range...
..................but i don't run a marketing department at a graphics plant, so i've got no idea what the green team have in store.

Why do you guys also quote from the inquirer? I looked at one of their magazines in a store, and it was just a bunch of BS.

Inquirer is pretty much a gaming tabloid, they're either hit or miss. Sometimes they can be very accurate and they usually are, sometimes they "report" on information that everyone knows about, and sometimes they're flat out wrong.

Not so. L'inq is also a headquarters of sorts for folks who like to flame DRM infection laden OS-ware and the maker of high-priced ego-centric entertainment gear with a fruity logo...for all the right reasons, of course.

I promised a large, mean-tempered kitty not to name names.
