    Corrupted con Files

The latest Creative X-FI drivers have corrupted my config files. I have disabled the card (can't roll back as the previous versions do not work for me either) & gone back to onboard sound.

I can recreate my profile, but I have a problem when I go to the server browser I've lost all my filter settings. If I do anything on the server browser page- like refresh the list or enter filters BF2 freezes for 10 seconds or so & then no servers at all will display.

Anyone any ideas? Is there another con file I can edit/delete? Or could I delete the whole BF2 directory in my Documents foler & will BF2 then recreate it?

    Thx

    C:\Documents and Settings\Steven\My Documents\Battlefield 2\Profiles\0001

    delete the Audio.con file

when you load up the game it will create a new one with the default settings :)

Sorry, but I've already rebuilt this config file. The driver messed up all my config files so I've rebuilt my video, controls & audio files. There must be something else affecting my in-game server browser.

If I delete the whole Battlefield 2 Directory & start from new will BF2 rebuild them?

You've given up on a $100 soundcard (unless it was extreme audio) because of a driver glitch? It would take (at most) 2 hours to get windows reinstalled and everything updated. Do you make more than $50/hour working at home? :)

For the issue with the onboard, is your x-fi still in the slot? Possibility it could be causing and IRQ conflict if so...

        Do other games/audio work fine?

oh, and what model x-fi did you have?

The tale of woe can be seen here. If an OS reinstall was a guarantee of a fix I'd do it, but if you read the linked thread you will see that it is not. I've also changed slots when I first installed it & still got the same problem.

Basically, with Vista x64 & 4gb ram I have the choice of static screaming at me at 100db, or a bsod upon exit of most games. It also borks the .con files in the BF2 directory. & I still cannot fix the in-game server browser.

I could roll back the driver & disable the driver before shutdown & then enabling it on startup as this seemed to work, but if I (or more normally my wife) forget I make peoples ears bleed 3 streets away. I'm too tired to carry on doing this until the next driver is released. Am I happy about it? No effin' way!

I've just noticed that the driver released on 1 October has been removed it was so bad- It now links you to the previous driver.
