just suggestions, but i suspect you'd get a better deals on ebuyer for the rest of the kit than on the yoyotech site, but i'm neither an AMD guru nor that familiar crossponder pricing, so wait for other folks to chime in before you spend anything.

oh, and that psu looks absolutely horrid. did i read it right: 24A on the +12v rail? that's it? surely that's 24A x 2 "independent" (right) rails? This one makes 30A if you're ok with a cheapy:

450W (with enough power to the +12v rail) is all you would need for that system, anyway

so, that's ~221 pence (or whatever passes for money in blighty), leaving you 79 for a case, hd, and optical drive. not much, but should be doable, and your friend would enjoy games TONS more with twice the ram at 4/3 the speed, and with a greasy fast card compared to that 1650pro.

oh, as for specs on bf2: maxed out at 1280x1024

edit: that mobo isn't going to be an overclocker for you, there were some nforce chipsets at a similar price. worth considering, but you're going to have to look for some serious deals on the case, or recycle one from a dumpster or something to stay under budget.

edit: places where I'd cut a corner if i had to--slower memory, slightly slower processor.

He could save a few £££ by taking an x1950 GT instead of an x1950 Pro, and flashing it with the x1950 Pro clocked BIOS or just overclocking it to the same speed.

everything will work together; you really need to find 2 gb of ram. 667 mhz will be fine considering your budget. i like that mainboard better than the one i suggested; it's also more expensive-->less money for memory...

memory: wouldn't go under 2gb, even if it meant getting a worse motherboard. the difference that overclocking your processor would make would be negligible compared to doubling your ram:

edit, lol: buy the gpu from ebuyer and use the money you save to order another stick of that corsair ram you link'd to at yoyotech. they seem a little expensive on some of their other stuff, too.

Is that system going to play BF2, on medium, im not too certain maybe some low/medium maybe a few high what do you recon?!

Ok,

He is getting 1GB, and after aboout 2 weeks, he will buy the other Gb, as for the GPU, he is like sealed on YoYo, even though ebuyer offer free shipping, and is cheaper!!!

He still wants to buy for YoYo becuase they combine postages together which is good, as i found out when ordering my system!!

Still Anybody else who thinks they can make a better system for they money is Welcome to post!!

up to your friend. i note that by buying another stick of ram a week or so later, your buddy the economics professor is losing the "advantage" that combined shipping offers over...*cough, cough*...free shipping.

i meant that as a joke, really.

to answer your question, i would expect it to easily play on high on the settings that matter most: view distance and geometries, with at least 2xAA, and a mix of high and medium settings for the rest @ 1280x1024.

the quality of that psu is the only thing that would worry me, but that system isn't going to draw enough power to stress it.

Its not bad, but its a hefty jump to the OCZ ones like mine, Thats simply out of the budget!

Know of any other PSU's around 15-25 English Pesos? on other sites!
