when i get my new pc im keeping my old one, but i want to have internet on both at same time, so i can play multyplayer and my brother can use the internet. can anyone suggest a easy to set up router??
if it helps im going to pc world in a week or so, and i can see what they suggest aswell
Look at any brands like Belkin, Netgear, Linksys etc...
I had a linksys router, and it eventually died. Linksys said it was the power cord, so we sent it back, and they said they'd send us a new one. 3 months later (2 days ago), we got it, but we haven't hooked it up yet.
I'm not saying the linksys is bad, just my experience with them is bad. I have another router that I've had for about 3 years, but I can't remember the name of it. I've had a great experience with it. My brother and I always play BF2 at the same time on the router without any issues. The company is U.S. Robotics

almost any good brand router is going to work fine. If your going wireless, be sure to get at least wireless 'G' and make sure it supports better wireless encryption like wpa-psk and higher.
linksys makes good stuff (consumer version of cisco and all), but the brand name is going the way of the dodo. shouldn't make a lot of difference, as "legacy" support will continue under the cisco brand.
i've had a wrt54gs going now for about two years, and never a peep of trouble. configuring was easy and the router will take setup up profiles from windows, from linksys software, or direct inputs to the router through a browser window.
it successfully sends teh interwibbles to my desktop, wifey's wifi lappy, and our VOIP converter box. i also used a belkin "wireless g plus" router at work, and once in a while i have to unplug it and plug it back in to get it to start transmitting again. no real problems with it, though.
