Hey dudes. I assume some of you are aware of the mobile broadband usb sticks you can subscribe to from £10 a month, from vodafone, 3, etc. Some have 'theoretical' speeds of 1.8mb/s, which is fast enough for bf2. The question is, has anyone actually tried them out yet and do they work for bf2?
I would just looooove to play bf2 online on the train and piss off all the other passengers with my constant medic whoring. lol.

Not only would you look stupid, but you would also find the ping might jump a lot and random disconnections. Most people find it tough to play with the wireless router in the room next to us, let alone half way across the countryside.

oh don't worry about that I've already lost the respect from my girlfriend, my family, my friends, when they have seen me play bf2 and turn into a five year old boy who's playing war. What a few commuters think I don't care, especially when they're far from being beyond reproach themselves. Today I had to listen to 25 minutes of someone's phone conversation about what they were thinking of cooking tonight and what pair of boots they wanted for Christmas.
I digress: if they can be like that, I can play bf2 on the train. thanks for advice anyway.

I was interested in those things myself, but thought it best not to. Wireless is not the way under and circumstances to play BF2. Atleast IMO.

is there any sort of trial period? in the u.s., companies offer 15 or 30 day trials, before the end of which you can return it and walk away from your contract.

i suggest finding a nononline game to play on the commute,somethign with a good singleplayer?Cod2 if you need some fps action(crysis when it comes out) or maybe a rts like opposing fronts.

In the UK i'm not aware of any trial period, you sign up for an 18 month contract and that's it (but you can also go on a 'pay as you go basis', at the crazy fee of £8.99 for a 24 hour 'window' of access to the internet = not worth it.
I think I might just bring my laptop in the shop and ask to try it out, with bf2. If it doesn't work i'll give up.
Otherwise i guess some SP action will have to do...

Read a book, it'll do wonders to your general knowledge. I'm reading one about the First World war from the perspective of the German troops.

Seriously. I'm done reading books on the train, discarded newspapers, other people's books. I want to piss off other passengers with the sound of my pkm. If any of you happen to take the train in the UK and see a retard playing bf2 on the train, say hi to me. Anyway I think this thread has reached an end don't you?

You could try, but I think the speeds are ropey, my missus had the Vodafone package for her work and just downloading spreadsheets and word documents that people had sent her, took an age.

I used to live in Southampton...
