Sapphire Radeon X1650 Pro?

Hi, i've recently just got a job so i'm upgrading my PC. you may have seen my recent thread that i've just bought an extra 2GB of RAM. im now looking into buying a new graphics card.
i currently have an ATI Radeon X600 series, PCI-E, 256MB card.
now i don't wanna spend loads cause my future is uncertain at the moment.

anyway, i was flicking through the pages of play.com when i found this

is it a good one to buy? how old is it etc, cause to be honest this aint gonna burn a hole in my pocket. feel free to comment on it, and if you wish to, sugest any others. (doesnt have to be fom play)

Dude, i have this exact same card, works great for me, runs bf2 on high settings very smooth, ihave 3gig or ram and a pent 4 also helps. i get 100fps idle, 70somethng with action, & at worst places down to 25-30which is very rare.

but my point is i recomment against it:nod:, first one i got lasted maybe 10minutes before it burnt up literally, i thought my computer was hurt but wasnt. well make long story short the seller offered a refund or another card with promise if anytinng happened to it they would give full refund. and that they had 3 other sapphires do same thing, so i gave it another shot & got a good one. i've had it allmost year.

since then i've heard lotsa sapphire horror storries, and countless troubles from them, even though i finally got a good one you might not.

right, i take it that the '1650' and '1950' are relative to when they were released then, the 1650 being first?
when i say i dont wanna spend too much i mean im probably willing to go up to like £100, so if i can get a 512MB 1950 pro, should i take that?

either of those x1950 pro's would be a good choice and a good deal. the ati model will be quieter and cooler (possibly higher overclock, also) because it has thermal pads and a full cooler. keeping the VRM (voltage regulator modules) cool has been a big problem with some aftermarket/vendor cooling solutions on the x1950pro.

shame the ati is out of stock...

I have a Sapphire x1950 pro, it isn't loud and it definitely doesn't suck.
