very frustrating. i downloaded the latest patch and all the rest. i need help. could anyone please help me out?

    thanks a lot.

if you can remember the time at which your PC reboot while ingame goto,

Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Event Viewer,

see if there are any logs of warnings/errors when it happened,

as XP will reboot when it encounters a problem (like rebooting will fix the problem )

Do what Scinto says and answer Jordan. It might let us know what we are dealing with

How fast is the shutdown? Lack of PSU power or CPU overheating will cause it to insta-shutdown (or very fast, in any case).

i did what Scinto said and there's no warnings or errors in the logs at all.

the shutdown is instant. like i'll be playing the game and it's like there has been a power outage or something because my computer turns itself straight off.

no sort of warning or anything. i'll just be playing normally and then BAM!

when i turn my computer back on there is no error messages at all. windows boots straight back up without a problem.

                      i'm running a 400W power supply.

but the recommended video card require for BF2 is an ATI 8500 or greater. i'm running an ATI X600 with 256MB memory. my game isn't choppy at all. it runs so smooth though. could the video card be the problem?

                      ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

hmm, i took out a stick of 512 RAM and put another cooling fan into my computer. i just played a full game of BF2 without any problems. apart from a little bit of stickyness here and there. i'm gonna put the stick of RAM back in and see how it goes.

thanks for all the help so far :)

                      ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

                      Ok, here's something else...

I took out a stick of 512 RAM so I was running on a stick of 512 and I put in an extra cooling fan. I started playing the game and for the first time I played a full game of BF2. It was a little sticky here and there and it took about 5-10 minutes to load up a map which sucked but oh well at least it worked properly.

I got sick of the stickyness pretty quickly so I put the stick of 512 RAM back into my machine and then also realised that I had put the fan on back to front so I took that off and put it the right way around.

I started playing the game and then it crashed again.

I'm thinking it's my CPU over heating. Any thoughts about that?

The thing about the fan is now that it's on the right way the fan is sucking out the hot air. When it was on back to front it was blowing cool air into my machine. Do you think that would have anything to do with it?

theres a prog cpu fan i think is name of it, i'd get it (*free) and run it see what my cpu temps are running, i think your right it very well sounds like it hot, the fans, if i could i'd atleast add another fan, i'd get some air somehow in there, try the fan blowing in might hlep i donno, just try both ways.
