the weirdest problem ever

Ok so this problem started a few weeks ago... I figured it was either battlefield 2 or windows xp. I reinstalled windows xp and battlefield 2 and this problem is still continuing. The game and everything runs completely fine but after maybe 10 minutes of playing everything starts to slow down and pretty much goto hell. It gets very jerky both video and sound, its like I'm running defrag during game play.

I have not installed any new hardware of any sort, the system right now has little to nothing installed but the game and my messengers, I disabled all background programs and even set bf2 to top priority... I'm not getting any kinds of errors from xp buuuut the problem is continuing...

I'm running xp, nvidia 5500, 1gig ram, sb audigy 2 sound card.

definitely sounds like an overheating problem.

turn off your computer and unplug it from the wall. take the side of your case off and use compressed air to blow out all the dust, especially on the heatsinks and fans. reboot with side off, and make sure all fans area spinning.

checked fans, everything is clean, i figured this maybe the problem when it first started out. My temp monitor is still in the green and never really rises at all during play, the only time it has risen is when im like dling 900 things and streaming video.

could i be overheating and the temp mon just not showing?

ok i took everything apart and cleaned everything very good and rechecked all the fans. I'm about to test it again.

everything seems to be working fine now..... i did find my video card had a sheet of dust over the heatsink this could have been my problem.

yea from the side and everything it all looked fine but when i pulled it out everything was like inside, completely invisible looking into the case.
