Sluggish Game.....

So,

I just bought SWAT 4 Gold Edition. I install it, etc. Anyway, the game takes forever to load. When I double click on the icon, the SWAT 4 banner pops up, and it takes 3 minutes and 45 seconds to get to the main page (I timed it, and thats without any movies). I click on career, and it takes another 30 seconds to pop up. I tried loading into the first map, but the map loading meter stopped 7/8ths of the way through and wouldn't go any further. I wait 6 minutes for it to do anything and it didn't budge.

I'm on a AMD Opteron 146 @ 2.5 GHz, 2 gigs of PC4000 RAM, and 2x 7800 GTs. I set the overclock to stock, and it didn't help. I disabled one of my GTs, and it still didn't work. I'm running out of options.

Any advice?

update your video drivers.

Sounds like a cpu related problem though. Perhaps you have a backround program conflicting with the game?

any firewalls running?

Check computer for spyware/viruses.

No spyware/viruses. I recently did a scan and came up with nothing. No firewalls.

I only have the bare bones running for processes, but I'm trying the video card drivers next.

I downloaded the SWAT 4 demo to see what that would do, and it ran fine with no issues.

Hmmm...

This is wildcard but it happened to me.

Is this a dvd pc game? If so, how old is your dvd/cd reader? It may be time for a new one. I can justify that because my old computers dvd player drive takes 5-10 minutes just to read my pc-dvd games such as bf2 and C&C first decade. That all changed when I got a new dvd player though.

Sounds like you have multiple firewalls running and they are messing with each other. This type of thing happens when i run Windows Firewall and Zonealarm.

If you're using Zonealarm with anti-virus, the anti-virus is known to slow down game loading times.

If it were me, I would try to find a SWAT4 forum and see if anyone had a similar problem.

Well that game always takes a long time to load buddy but not 3 mins...

DVD/CD isn't an issue, as it is a direct download type game.

I don't have any firewalls running, like I so kindly stated in my above posts. Please read.

It should take long to load either way. I'm way about the recommend requirements.

None of the SWAT4 forums were of any help.
