Cheapest way to upgrade

lo all i have a amd dual core 4400@2.45ghz 2x1024 ddr400 a8n sli delux mobo 2 x sata 2 hdd audigy 4 sound card and a xfx 8800gts xt 320 meg vid card.
what would be the cheapest way to upgrade and would i see any improvement?
im from uk so it will have to be in £££.

all very nice but dose not answer my question, if i was to upgrade in the cheapest way what components would i buy and what would the difference be to what i have now. eg is a intel 2 core e4500@2.2 gig is it alot better than my 4400@2.4gig, and would some new ram ddr2 would it be faster than my ddr400?

AMD *gasp*, is good enough. But if you do want to upgrade, then look for a Intel Core 2 Duo E6850 and a LGA775 motherboard like Asus's P5K Deluxe

E6550 is £60 cheaper than E6850 and it still offers double the performance from the currant AMD Cpu op has,, theres plenty of good mobos for under a ton that would do the job, ram is cheap now aswell, you can get a cheap upgrade for £250 or less if you shop around,

yeah i would go for maybe another 2gb of ram. i dont think u would really need to upgrade anything else for a while.

DDR3 ram@1800 fsb is soon so nothing lasts top end for long in computers

^6550 is a good suggestion; 2x1gb ram@800mhz/1066 depending on price, specs, and voltages; hold my nose and say drop it in a 650i mobo. edit, maybe a p965, IF you've done a little research and can get a VERY good price on a closeout board...

sound, video, hd's all stay the same.

alternatively, what size monitor ya' got? if it's a 19", you could just buy a 22"* instead.

*reduces the cpu bottleneck nicely (it's badbad now) + better gaming w/out really sacrificing much in the way of frames at your current settings*

i have 2 screens i usually use my 19"crt, but sometimes i plug it into my 42" lcd
