    SLI with different memory amounts.

I know its possible to sli 2 different manufacturer made nVidia cards as long as they are the same chip. But can you sli one with 512mb with one with 256mb? I have the 7950GTKO512MB and all I can seem to find new are the 7950GTs with 256MB. Just wondering if anyone knows if its possible to do this. I know that overclocked 7950GTs or 7900s or whatever will work with there stock clocked brothers. But I never heard of different memory amounts.

If I can do this, I found a cheap 7950GT 256mb on tiger for only 139 bucks.

Can't say for sure but I would imagine it would work, just the one video card will be slowed down to the others speed... Try asking a techy support @ tiger or nvidia, they would prolly have a better idea than any of us seeing as its been two days now since you got a reply...

      Email Nvidia tech help?

I'm sure they would help, but IMO, i would sell your current 7950 and use that and the money you were going to SLI it with to buy an 8800 series card.

Yeah I agree with above ^^ SLI isn't all the greatness as they advertise it to be.

with 2 video cards in sli they have to be the same as in memory, card, and card bios.same has running raid strip 0 you need the 2 same hard drives to do it.

              actually your wrong.

the lower memory card secides how much memory the other card can use.

the lower clocked gpu decides the clock of the other card

and, the bios doesn't even have to be the same.

The only requirement is that the cards have the same gpu. Such as 2 7800GTs. But not 1 7800GTX and a GT as the GTX is different.
