    Near Instant Crash

    Here are my specs:
Windows Vista Home Premium (probably the damn culprit right off the bat)
    Athlon 64 x2 5400
    3GB DDR2 RAM
    RADEON x1950 Pro 256mb

My computer has always played BF2 perfectly fine, and recently I've encountered a very annoying problem. Shortly after entering a server, the game will crash to desktop. No warning message, nothing. Just instant crash and it's as if I was looking at the desktop the whole time. This morning I was playing for at least one hour straight with no problems, and then the problems started. I wasn't running anything in the background and I didn't install anything today. Anybody have any ideas as to why this is happening?

Have you tried manually updating punkbuster? If not, give that a go. Also update any drivers that may be available (ie video, sound, mobo, Microsoft).

You can get PB's from here: http://www.punkbuster.com/

He said it's always played fine until now. I doubt his PSU suddenly failed to provide enough juice. More likely it's pb. The same issue a LOT of people have run into with this fiasco.

For what it's worth, I can play in singleplayer for hours with no problem, so I find it hard to believe that any part of my computer would be the problem. There is only one server that doesn't kick me out, it is 82.195.155.212:16567. I am playing from Turkey, my connection is DSL but it kinda sucks.

As soon as it kicks me out, both cores in the Multi Meter Gadget for Vista show 100% usage, then they immediately go back down to their normal 3-5% levels.
