    Crashing/Lagging

i run windows vista and my computers brand new. why am i getting a bunch of crashes after i play for a bit or the game lags n lags n lags until it kicks me off.

I have enough memory, my vdo card is new. meaning my computer is only only less than a yr old. Can someone help me what to do so i wont get crashes or lags? I had to stop using punkbuster cause that made it even worst.

    help! *gulp*

    Well couple of things...

    1. You want help, give specs - "My computer is new, only less than a yr old" is not an appropiate answer. You could have bought a rip off computer from dell for all I know and why its still running today is a mystery... So uhh, just dxdiag us with your stuff :)

    2. You need PB to play online so disabling it will not get you any further than you are now regardless if it helpe or not (because well, it doesn't lol).

    3. The only thing useful I've seen so far is that you stated that your running vista OS. Many people are having problems with this OS and there isn't much they can do until SP1 is released.

What you can try to do is updating your video drivers though...

Well, actually, my computer is not a dell. my computer is HP. 3800+ AMD Athlon 64x 2Dual Core Processor,1024MB of memory, 250GB hard drive, NvidiaGeForce6150LE.

What is SP1 and when does it release??? I have also done updates each n every time and still no good results....still get lags and crashes. I have runned the dxdiag and nothing.

One thing im having trouble with is punkbusterB..it wont come off my port. Do i have to remove the port? I have tried to uni-stall and re-install punkbuster and i still get the same result. I have also runned my computers score and it comes out too a 2.7

      Im sooo confused.....HELP!

      thanks

Sorry to say, but your PC just won't cut it for Vista. Too bad...

You need at least 1.5GB of RAM and an actual graphics card that won't struggle unless you set Firefox to all low, 640x480, no AA.

They both are trying to say they are shocked your computer is even running bf2, especially in vista and I am too...

Your computer is just getting by, so as time progresses and the garbage piles up in your registry, your performance crawls to a halt really fast because your computer lacks resources as is.

And I don't know when sp1 is out for vista.

Simple solution, you need new and improved hardware. IE. at least 2gb of ram and a 7600+ video card.

But then again, that thing you bought that you call your PC is more like the model T ford and your trying to drive it on the highway. Needless to say its not a pretty sight.

Sorry, but you have nowhere near enough memory, when it's put in numbers. 1GB is not enough for Vista to run well. I have a large penis. Alright, bad example, should have chosen a lie. That computer would chug on XP nowadays, let alone Vista.

The video card is nowhere near fine. It's slightly more powerful than a Voodoo card from 1996. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure it'll play Doom quite well.

Sorry for the burn, but it's just the truth.

                      K. there's no burn at all. I got the crashing and some of the laggin to stop but it still does it by a little bit. Ive tried re-starting my comp and it works perfectly fine. Im just having trouble with the LAGS. The lags are killing me. Im actually thinking about downgrading back to xp. Windows vista sucks balls. They should of never came out with it cause it does WINDOWS no good. Vista is a copy of MAC & PC put together. thats why most ppl are gettin these messages.

But, My Main QUESTION is.......How do i remove a port from punkbustersetup??? I have friends who play with out punkbuster set up and they play just fine.

                        Re: Crashing/Lagging

The reason "Vista sucks" is because your PC can't handle it. I don't play Crysis on a Pentium 2 and claim "Crysis sux omg".

You'd be best off on Windows 2000, if you can get it set up well. I'm surprised that graphics card can even get into 3D mode, let alone running BF2. Just for reference, it's an integrated chipset, and it's THE LOWEST END chip on the market. There are some PCI cards that are faster.

Not sure what you mean about Punkbuster.

by the way at this stage of the game, the only "downgrading" one can do is to invest in vista right now.

XP is solid and has had all its crap sorted out already.

Again, you can't play with out PB so maybe your thinking about something else... No punkbuster, no ranked servers.

Ps. camper the only reason it looks big is because objects in the mirror may appear to be larger. Lol

Windows2000? why would i wanna get 2000 when we're in the future of technology? Sorry to say but, that was the most stupidest things i have ever heard of. Downgrade from Vista - Windows2000? u kidding me? hahah. what im trying to say about pbsetup is, there are two ports that run...PunkbusterA shows up in the port but, punbusterB doesn't....where is punkbusterB in the port? Or, how can i add pbsetupB into a port? Im going to download pbsetup 1 more time....there was never ANY good results with that program to be honest.

Just read the title of the threads through Tech Center

You keep saying downgrading from vista, what is so "upgrade" about vista right now?

Instead of downloading the setup program that does the pb junk automatically like it says it will, try just manually downloading the files and placing them in the correct location. Thats what I do, and I've tried using pb setup before and its a joke... Didn't work for me.
