Thanks to the British Government, i just got the following laptop for free:

Intel Core 2 Duo T7100
2gb DDR2 RAM
120gb HDD
Vista Home Premium
WirelessG
Canon Pixma IP4300 Printer
Canon CanoScan Lide 600F
Microsoft Office 2007 Pro Edition
Carry Case
and a load of softwarez

What graphics you reckon it'll come with, standard Intel GMA?

I am hopeless at taking notes by hand in lesson, so they gave me a free laptop to take them :)

Lol, yea, i suppose. You could think of it like this:

Either someone who would find it useful gets it (like me), or they give it to some criminal just out of jail living in Brixton or something (i never understand those types of initiatives...)

doubt you will be able to run BF2 as it doesnt support them,, try 2142 you might have better luck :p

Whoa, i don't need to run BF2 on it, i have my main rig for that. This is simply for taking to lectures and library to do work etc...

By the way, does anyone know whether you can still request new activation codes over the phone for Vista like you used to be able to do with XP?
The automated system was awful, but it meant that i could re-register my OEM copy of XP about 50 times

anywhoo depends on the maker i guess, could be one of three and 2 are alot better than standard,,

I'm quite pleased/surprised they gave me one with 2gb of RAM. I thought they may skimp and give me Vista with 512mb ram.... XD

however nice to have.. if I was another British Citizen I'd be pissed that they are giving out laptops way more powerful than they should be for a little data entry. You can get one that does that for a little over 200$ US.

Yea, but it has to support Vista and last for 3 years. So they give you a good spec one
