I had to underclock my video card

Like a year and a half ago, I RMAd the thing because it died. After that it always had a few artifacts. Then the freezing started. Now my 6600 is running 333/469. Piece of ****.

If the stats are anything to go by, you sure as hell are going to be feeling that underlock. Sounds like dodgy memory. Freezes usually happen when I OC memory too high (freezes as in it hangs for a second and carries on, then repeats). OCing the core clock will make it BSOD there and then.

It's not too bad. I just lowered the graphics settings. When it freezes, it freezes. Only a reset will bring it back.

Can you RMA it again? What is your case ventilation situation?

^ good advice. have you opened up your case and looked at it lately? there may be a layer of fuzz on your fan blades.

also, a good set of bga ramsinks can be had for $2.00 +$2.00 shipping:

if you aren't getting good case ventilation, invest in a couple more fans and slap some sinks on there. 6600's (ESPECIALLY the gt's) aren't bad cards for bf2 at all at lower resolutions. i'm inclined to think you're roasting your components until you check it out. :)

i know of a few people's 6600GTs that had heat issues and compeltely went to crap. Just another reason why I never recomended this card to anyone.

they do (6600gt) run a tad hot for the reference cooler. if you compound that with bad ventilation...:dead:

looks like your going to have to live with it or replace hardware
