See the screen shot I posted above. And no I didn't Alt+Tab out to take it, running dual monitors with Task Manager on the second. I only have 2GB and even with BF2 running you can see the memory isn't "maxed" out.

yes yours say 1 gig for bf2 but i have seen mine go to 1.25 in spikes

personally i would only run vista with 4 gig because i know its hungry..

but it is only a guess from me:)

      goodluck!...

Does RAM matter? I just bought a brand new comp that has vista with 1GB of RAM and now I have about 894 MB of RAM. Im laggin and sometimes get error messages upon punkbuster setup.

Which is better,..RAM or grphics crd?

For general computing, there is no question, RAM. For games, graphics cards come before RAM, as long as you have the minimum threshold. In BF2, the minimum for high graphics settings is 1.5GB of RAM, simple as that. With 1GB, your hard disk WILL be thrashed unless you have a ridiculously minimalist OS (Win 2K with all services and processes and other things cut down).

In your case, there is no question. Vista should be used with AT LEAST 1.5GB, 2GB would be a minimum for appreciable performance (this is for desktop usage - Vista and XP are roughly on par with memory usage when a game is running).

I should also mention that not having sufficient memory for what you do, will also shorten your hard drive's lifespan greatly. We have drives at work that have failed over and over and over again because the computer only had 512 mb of memory. We've upgraded all the computers to 1.5 gigs now and no drive has crashed since.

If you play BF2, I suggest you have 2 gigs. When I ran 1 gig, for a long time (I even argued thats all you needed on places like this), and then I put in another gig. I got slightly better frame rates, and my studdering completely went away.
