With the upcoming release of CoD4, it has come to my attention that I'm going to need a better computer. My current motherboard and processor are bottlenecking my video card badly.
Current:
Intel P45G
Intel Pentium 4 3.2 GHz HT
XFX 7950GT
1.5 GB DDR2 RAM(Samsung and whatever Dell uses)
Plan:
Core 2 Quad
XFX 680i SLI mobo
Current video card
New RAM
New Case
etc...etc...
Now here's where the question comes. I've heard horror stories involving 680i mobos being fickle when it came to the type of RAM used.
While I want a computer that can handle CoD4, I'm not looking to spend a few thousand.
The mobo standard is DDR2 800, and I'm fine with that. 2GB at least for right now. I'm currently looking at a Mushkin Dual-Channel kit(2x1GB). It fits my budget, and seems to be a good choice for the 680i.
Those of you with first-hand knowledge about the mobo, could you share your stories involving RAM?
Fell free to ask me any questions you'd like.
