you won't need anything dx10 capable until like next year for crying out loud. Crysis will run in DX9. They charge that much for 8600s... yikes. You can get a 7900 series card for quite a bit less and be performing the **** out of an 8600. Like an average of 20 fps better in BF2.


Anyways, you might want to upgrade that cpu along with the gpu and psu. That system isn't going to be dx10 card worthy next year anyways. Just upgrade the video card moderatly (to a great performing dx9 card) because that motherboard and cpu aren't worth the 22 inch rims. You won't even be able to squeeze all the ketchup out of a powerful dx9 card.

I cannot stress enough that that processor is going to bottleneck a lot of video cards.

Sure Crysis will run in DX9 but why not go ahead and get a near if not better card for the eye candy to go along with the performance. I'm not going to even talk him into another processor thats a different thread. He asked about GPU and PSU and I've pointed him to the ones worth and known to be fitting for whats out right now and in the NEAR future.

Sure CPU is going to make some bottle neck but thats for any card so if he's going to upgrade may as well do it right. I've built plenty of rigs in the past for say the last 15years so I'm sure I know what i'm talking about.

i dunno, I'd rather have 60 fps and pretty good looking graphics than

30 fps and pure eye candy. Not to mention getting owned by the people running higher frame rates.

and i doubt a p4 is going to be much fun with crysis.

its all about what you would rather enjoy..and for gaming I can give up some FPS for a while till better drivers come out which they will to have good eye candy too.

And again he never asked about a CPU so I'm not discussing that...whole different thread.
