    Yuk! 8600gt no......

Try (your hardest) to get a 8800gts, and if that fails, get a high end DirectX9 card like the X1950xt

    And

80gb Hard disk, a little on the small side. I couldn't cope with one 400gb drive let alone 80...

Re: Is this a good any good?

8600series (pick your choices of g's t's and s's) will bog down at mid-resolution (1280x1024) with AA and any amount of lighting candy. if you want games to look good, i agree with ^^. however, if you are going to use either an 8800gts or an x1950xt (they are getting hard to find, although there is a HIS branded-one at newegg for $169 right now), then you need a decent 500-600W psu.

if I only had ~$300, then i'd get the decent psu and an x1950xt and spend the difference on a game; if i had some more money (or if you're already getting a good psu in that build) then an 8800gts will make you happy gamer for a long time.

oh and i hate to say it, but quad is still overkill for gaming. you could save money by going with a mid-end c2d and get just about the same performance. if you're doing lots of media editing or compiling, then a quad makes more sense.

          and go with c2d 3.00ghz

          better?

Yes, better. But no chance of a 8800gts? Is that too much?

its not that its too much it just doesn't give me the option to get with the comp, only the 8600gts and a few others, or i could buy it separately but that would mean me having to put it in myself...i shall see.

Yes, that is a brilliant card. A 320mb version also exists which costs less. Although, if you are planning on gaming above 1680x1400 (or something like that), then more GDDR always helps.

                          thanks

E6750 C2D would be a better cpu paired with Artic Freezer Pro 7 for better cpu cooling.

                          I'd get 2GB ram but pc6400 instead (800mhz).

Get a WD caviar or something, they arn't that expensive. If you really want to shell out some money for better performance, get a WD raptor while your at it.

Everyone told you about your 8600 already... :)
