    Graphics Cards...

I'm looking at graphics cards to buy for my computer that ill be building around early November, and i dont know what really to pick.

I know i need a 7 series or better for BF2 on medium/high settings but what is really worth the money that isnt a £300 Nvidia 8800GTX.

At the moment ive come to find the Inno3D/Nvidia/XFX GeForce 7900GTX is really good and at a nice price, if i go with the 7900GTX will i be playing at High settings? (intel core 2 duo 3.0GHZ + 3GB of DDR2 ram)

Or do i have to get another £100 to buy the 8800GTX to be playing at high with good fps rates? tell me your thoughts and if you happen to post links or prices, make sure they are on UK websites and in GBP..my UK to US money prices aint exactly spot on.

    Cheers.:p

I think NVIDIA will be releasing there nex series - 9xxx cards around that time of the year so a 8800 GTS/GTX should be relatively cheaper.

As for the 7 series, anything starting from a 7600+ PCIE card should run the game all on high.

A radeon X1950 pro is also a good/cheap card to consider.

The 7900 GTX probably isn't your best option. I would look at the 8800 GTS/8800 GTX or ATIs HD 2900 XT. All are DX10 compatible and better performing.

Depends on what you want to spend? the more you pay, generally means the better performance. I have a 7600 gt and it runs bf2 pretty well, just slows down when playing karkand and everyone is in one spot.

I recommend to see what happens when the 9 series are out, many think the prices will drop.

if you do go with the 7900GTX you won't be unhappy though. But the price margin for the 8800GTS makes the 7800GTX not worth it. The 8800s are going to have a better bang for your buck.

Thanks guys ive change from the 7900GTX to a
Asus Nvidia Geforce 8800GTS 640MB - all for £40 more then the 7900! and the person who is buying the parts can get them for ALOT cheaper so maybe i can possibly upgrade from Kingston valueram to corsair or something

thanks alot all ready my card can get me on medium, when its overclocked....but when everyone is in a group on karkand i get alot of lag, and as Neptune said the 7900 will slow down, so thanks alot, and Camperstrike, you are correct its double the performance also 130MB more of GDDR3 so thanks guys, now ill be having the ULTIMATE bf2 experiance
