    8600 Gts

Futureshop (canada) has a 8600 gts on sale -$100. I have a 7600 gt, and i really want to be able to play crysis in the future + other graphics rich games. It now costs $180, which is pretty cheap for retail. Im sure its dx10 capable, just wondering what you guys think?

Get our Low Price Guarantee, online or in store, on a huge selection of electronics, appliances, furniture, fitness, travel, baby products and more!

The reason i want this to be my next card, and not the ones that take up two slots, is because my case wont allow it. It has four expansion bays, and the top one is for pci-e, meaning that the exhaust portion of the 8800's wont fit.

Sale ends tomorrow, what do you think?

P.S. What 7 series card has equivalent power? 7950 gt?

While it may say DX10 on the box, it would be like trying to play BF2 with a 7300LE. Yea, it might work, if you like slideshows that is...

just be advised that if you upgrade to a DX10 card for DX10 you will also need Vista.

Yeh dont bother buying anything below a 8800/2900xt if you want DX10

i would just wait for the next generation, rumours are that Nvidias next assualt on the video card market begins this fall

I doubt i will get it then... And btw i clearly said that i cant get a card that takes up two slots, like that ati + im from canada = cant order from newegg. Thats a double whammy wrong answer lol :p.

I will probably wait til the 9 series are out, then i might do a case/vista/8800 all around upgrade thing.

I heard the new 9 series are hitting the shelves next christmas, which apparently, is the same time DX10 games start to be released. It wouldn't make marketing sense releasing them in the summer when people are outside frolicking about. However, i wouldn't be at all surprised if the date is pushed back.

Personally, I'm betting on Nov. Thats when the last 3 generations of cards have been launched (6800,7800,8800), and I see no reason by nvidia to not release the cards then.

Of course, we always get the good stuff first.
