Bandwidth limiter

I am still sharing net with another in the house and they just dont seem to understand that downloading every thing under the sun hurts my connection while gaming.

Question is do any of you know of a bandwidth limiter that is free so i can give the other *********er like a 56k connection or just plain old reduce what they use now?

I pay for cable but the other person also uses it for work and runs some strange a55 programs that are always downloading crap like weather monitors and what not.

I would be greatful for any help.

dis connect his internet cable then say you dont know whatswrong
and he probably downloaded some virus and he has to get a new computer,but honestly i dont know of any programs,im sure someone in the it business can help.

Get a DGL-4300 gamefuel router. My wife ran torrents and my pings were still ok with this thing.

You'll need a router with that capability.

Which means you'll need any piece of network kit that can split the line and bandwidth, such as a router.

Either that, or route the connection through your PC using Internet Connection Sharing, you'll need 2 network cards for that.

The router i have is a Linksys BEFSR41 v 4.1 any tricks i can do with this one?

I have set the DMZ but cant seem to port forward as it tells me that this router wont allow it.

you could probably block the ports that his a55 program is using. My sister does the same thing. I just go in her room and hit the power button :-)

yea, you can usually block pots to a specific internal IP address. So find his ip by typing ipconfig /all in Command, and use it (usually something like 192.168.2.14, but end numbers change). Then block ports. Port 80 is standard internet btw.
