    high ping issue please help??

hi ive been playing bf2 for yrs now with no real ping issues , until now.
ok , my for yrs has been between 30 and 80 , never higher.
ive pinged a few sites on cmd and my avg ping is 40 .
problem is when i ping any server that loads ,(even though close to where i live) the ping goes up to 200 plus!!!
i load servers on bf2 but all the low ping servers under 250 have dissapeared ??
this happens on both my pcs, xp and vista.
according to optus my isp ,my connection has no problems at all.
my avg speed is 13000 kbps
all firewalls are closed all ports are opened.
ive isolated all my hardware, ie modems , hubs etc
like i said ive been playing for yrs with this system with no probs. this isnt just some firewall issue etc.
the big clue is , no low ping servers load on bf2. now thats weird because theres always atleast 15 servers with an avg ping of 70 .
i use ping plotter so i can send a graph of what is happening to my ping when i connect to my clan server in melbourne. its weird for yrs my ping with them is 40 now its 250 plus.

Looks like an ISP issue. The 3rd hop where it times out and the ping jumps to over 200 is still inside your ISP's network, which means there isn't anything you can do until they fix it. If you haven't called then yet I would get on to them ASAP, and make sure you have tracerts and ping tests to various sites, including one to them.

thanks stormy, yeah ill ring optus again.
its just really hard getting them to get of there asses to help with this. plus they check my connection by pinging one site.then just say its all fine. but ill nag them again.ill get them to investigate further.
