I was thinking of upgrading to an Intel E6750, obviously I’d also like to ensure that the motherboard can support the increased 1333fsb, and was looking at the Asus P5N-E SLI 650i. The website says that it supports the higher fsb, but further investigations have shown me differing results.
Many of the reviews of the board state that 650i chipset does not inherently support the higher fsb, but Asus managed to squeeze this out of the chipset. However, Nvidia shows this chipset as fully supporting 1333fsb. Could this be because of newer iterations of bios since these reviews were released? All of the reviews that were written were before the latest release of Core 2 Duo’s, and so have not been written with this in mind.
I’d be really interested to hear from anyone how has an experience with this board with a e6x50 chip- it is significantly less expensive than the 680i boards- it may not support a full 16 lane SLI, but this won’t be an issue for me.
