Re: Video card opinion
Good enough, but to run well you need 2GB of RAM. It's the standard now
Well, you could tone down the textures and lighting settings until you get 2GB.

Re: Video card opinion
Yeah, I'm planning on buying another gig later on. With 2gb, though, I'll be able to run everything on high?

8600GT/GTS Benchmark Compilation
http://www.overclock.net/nvidia/214616-8600gt-gts-benchmark-compilation.html
Some benchmark tests for the card, they all seem to use actual benchmark programs rather than any in game values but it seems to do quite well.

I would of just gotten a DX9 card, the performance isn't so hot with that series.

Re: Video card opinion
The cards I had to choose from that would come with the PC are:
GeForce 6150 LE
Geforce 7300LE
GeForce 8300GS
GeForce 8600GT
So that's why I picked the 8600GT. Also, the PC comes with vista

Re: Video card opinion
it's a decent video card. the x1950pro is cheaper and faster if you're buying components, but 8600gt isn't bad...unlesss...
it's more than...say...a $130 "upgrade".
Then, I'd get the lowest discrete gpu offered, ebay it, and slap an x1950pro in there for the money u saved.
that's my $.02, and i watch mine closely.
