GeForce Go 7900GS

I know this is just another repeating question, but my laptop can either take a 256MB NVidia Geforce Go 7900GS, or that same on in SLI dual. My specs are: 80GB Hard Drive, 2GB Memory, AMD Turion 64 Mobile ML42 2.4GHz 800MHz FSB 512KB.
Will I need to get the DUAL to pay BF2 on high, or just get the 256MB model by itself? All help appreciated!:salute:

if you get the dual the laptop will last you longer which im sure you want.

What do you mean last me longer? The life of it will be heightened? Also, does it make a big difference if its not dual on BF2?

What im saying is if you get the sli of it,it will last longer meaning you wont have to buy a new laptop sooner.

It will last longer because it will be able to play future games better than if you had a single vid. card, making you not need a new laptop for a longer period of time...

on my 7900 GS I play maxed 1400X1050 res so im sure you're fine with one. But it wouldn't hurt for future games

OK thanks for the help. If I have the money for it forsure ill get it but what about that Vista crap? The laptop comes with Vista Home Premium and I've heard people say its not good for BF2? whats your opinion on that?

vista will play bf2 just fine on that lappy, with (maybe) some tweaking. i wouldn't worry about it.

what i would worry about...somewhat...is thermals running 2x7900 cores. that will get you a great gaming pc, but i would encourage you to park that baby on a dedicated laptop cooler, and keep the base prop'd up for proper air flow. otherwise, your hd may not last very long and other temp-sensitive components may be subject to early failure.

great gaming lappy, tho, especially for $2200.

Thanks for all of the help. I'm definately going to get just the 256MB one, not the dual. I just wanted to play BF2 without any lag or problems. It's just that I always thought that a 256MB memory card, especially for laptops, was going to be kinda low end. But, I guess not! Thanks for the help. :salute:

If you can get the dual bf2 is a old game!newer ones that are much more demanding are coming out.

ya, I was just summing up the $, and without the dual, and with an 80GB hard drive, a 2GB memory, and a AMD Turion 2.4GHz processor, it comes to only $1899.00! But then I read the fine print. It said that Windows Vista does not currently support the NVidia SLI functionality. So if I get the dual 256MB 7900GS, it comes to $2199.00. But then I would have to get one of those laptop cooling systems. Oh well, I guess when the time comes around, which will be awhile, I hope I make the right decision. completely unnecessary if you're mostly gaming on the laptop. you need a giant monitor to really enjoy 1gb (or even 512mb right now) of video memory.

Ya the only reason I need a new computer is because a couple years ago my Hp pavilion (its not new), just dies. So we didnt do anything, I wasnt into gaming or computers, but I started to get into it so we got the Geek squad to come and fix it. They said I needed a new power supply, because it had burned out or something. So we went to Frys Electronics to get one and they said that the most powerful one my computer could take was a 200 wtt, because of the size. I didnt believe him, hell I couldnt even understand him. SO, anyway, we got the 200 wtt power supply and we plugged it in and everything worked fine and I don't know how long, maybe a moth later, the computer just dies again and wont start up. We spent $700 on fixing it. I coulda just bought a new one! So, that was about 8 months ago. Now, last night, I said screw it, Im gonna fix this piece of $*@^. Ive never taken a computer apart and i dont quite understand them, but i gave it a try. I took out the power supply, use an air presure pump thing to blow ALL the dust off of it, blew all the dust off of the machine and then plugged everything back in, and it still didnt work. I forgot to mention this before but the geek squad told me that it died cause of the dust.
So, anyway can someone tell me how to fix this damn computer?!?! It has a pretty good graphics card and Im sure there is a power supply that is like 700 watt out there that fits this comp.
