    Which CPU Cooler?

I'm deciding between the Zalman CNPS9500-AT:

and the Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro:

    Which one should I get?

Get the Zalman but get the bigger version of it. It should have clear whitish fins and is called, in full, the Zalman CNPS9700-LED Aero Flower (Socket AM2/939/754/775) CPU Cooler.

        Linky to it.

Easy answer: if you want a very good cooler for ~$20, go with the AC. Get it here if you're in the states:

If you want the best you can buy for ~$50, get something that says thermalright on the box:

          $49, new model:

$39, older (the one i have) model:

$19.99 (this one requires minimal assembly, no need to pull of mobo)

(for all the above, you need to add your choice of fan. i prefer arctic cooling directional fans like

          or

Some of these cpu coolers look so heavy they'd snap my mobo

I'm not looking for an exceptional cooler, it's just I've been told the E6700's stock cooler is not good. My current Pentium 4 516 (2.93GHz, 533FSB, 1MB cache) only gets 740 marks in 3dmark06 (free edition).

All those coolers I linked to are mostly aluminum = very light.

The stock cooler is loud and inefficient but it gets the job done if you aren't pushing your overclock. For a cheap, good, aftermarket one, the freezer 7 pro is the cat's meow. I only posted the other because that zalman is pushing $50, and for $50, you have more (mo'bettah, specifically) options.

You've probably already checked, but I'd also throw out there that you should double check to make sure your MOBO supports core 2 duo processors. Just having the same pinout (LGA775) as that Pentium 4 516 (2.93GHz, 533FSB, 1MB cache) isn't always enough...
