When online shopping, I start with PriceGrabber.com. Whether its a system or parts, PriceGrabber lists most all sources and you can list them by price. You need to be careful to be sure you are comparing exactly the same parts, but when you have something specific to search for, it makes it very easy. When I built this system, I got parts from alot of different places, MWave and NewEgg mostly, but once I knew exactly what I wanted, where to buy became easy ...good luck with your search.

I think you best bet is looking in the phone book for a local store in your area that sells computers.

I myself, live in Ontario and do my shopping in the local area. Sure I look at tigerdirect.ca and ncix.com but then they get destroyed by the local computer market. A great example is the store Canadacomputers.com. The only thing that they did not cut there prices to well on was there videocards - but other than that I bought my whole computer from them.

I know that doesn't help you out but it just goes to show you that if you look a little bit closer to home, ask around - friends, familiy, neighbours, etc. thatyou'll prolly find a store that you can simply drive to and offers lower prices. Again, check out your phone book in the C section

i would almost never consider buying a pre-built system. if i did though, ecost.com would be my first place to start for a refurb:

^dual core AM2 3800, a gig of (slowish) ram, 320gb and dual-layer dvd burner. only problem is that the description says x2, and the specs just say athlon 64...i'm not an amd guru, but aren't those contradictory?
