the quad core q6600 (2.4 ghz) dropped down to 300$, but a few more dollars will probably come off since the expected price drop was july 22.

Questionable...
I think what is happening is that newegg is trying to get a headstart on the selling spree by being one of the first if not, the first to drop it down to $300 because I looked at some other sites and was surprised they haven't dropped yet as I know one of them is usually on top of things and beats everywhere else.
Ps. Interesting fact here - tigerdirect.ca is selling a Q6600 for 2cents cheaper than tigerdirect.com. What is 2cents you may be asking yourself? That is CDN dollars vs US dollars. Hmmm... -
