My high school did something where there was an "accident" and some one "died", they actually gave some one a few days off from school. It wasn't anywhere near as convincing as that though

A couple years back some girls who went to a school near where I live died because the driver was texting and she drove onto the other side of the road and the car hit head on with a semi (lorry for you British folks). All five died. My cousin went to said school, and was in the same grade. I met two of them before it happened.

So yes, **** can happen.
