Bios Update = not working

    Bios Update = not working

    So, I d/l'd a bios update for my motherboard (ecs p4m890t-m2), and I try to use the program that comes with it, and when I load the new bios file into the program and click "flash", i get an error saying "File Rom ID Incorrect"


    Any ideas on how to fix this?

      erm, i'd stop right there and check to make sure everything--EVERYTHING--is right--flash utility and bios. worst case scenario is that you could flash your bios with the wrong info and kill it for good.

          agreed...if possible load the previous version back on....

              I fixed it. There was a checkbox that said "dont check file rom id" After I checked that, everything went great.

                      Why did I put it at stake? I downloaded the bios update from my motherboard manufacturer's site, so it should work fine. And it did.

                          You got very lucky, because since it failed the id check that usually means its for a different motherboard.

                          Thats like me flashing my mobo with a p5k bios because:

                          1.I got it off the asus website.
                          2.It has an intel socket.

                              Yea, but I didnt just download any random bios update from the ECS (my mobo's brand) website. I went to my motherboard's page and downloaded it from there. So, there shouldn't of been any risk of doing that since it was supposed to be for my motherboard. If they put the wrong one up there, that wasnt my fault. But all I know is that it worked, and everything is good now.

                                      This mobo has always worked great for me. Bios update worked great too. I'm loving my new Bios!! :)
