    Vista Home Premium and BF2

    Hey,

I have had Windows XP for a while now and have been playing BF2 for the past year or so. I just installed Windows Vista on my comp. and now i cant startup the game.

When I click on the game icon, the little startup window comes up saying "Battlefield 2." Then the screen goes black and then comes back to my desktop.

I have had this problem before with XP when my graphics card wasnt strong enough for the game (It was a GeForce MX 4000 128MB DDR AGP 8x/4X). I then switched to a ATI Radeon 9550 256 MB DDR AGP 8x/4x. AFter switching to that it worked great! It was running on a medium graphics setting. Once I installed Windows Vista, I reinstalled it. Now the game wont startup at all. It is just like it used to be when I didnt have a good enough graphics card.

Before, it worked great, now it isnt running at all.

    What could be going on?

I have been searching on the internet, but couldnt find anything.

Ok, I am running Vista 64 Home Premium, and BF2 runs great. But the rub is you have to have enough resources (which you hit on about your graphics card) to run Vista plus BF2. What I mean is, Vista is a graphics and ram hog, but with enough of those two things, BF2 and Vista get along fine. If your a bit short of ram (under 2 gigs) or video power, there may not be enough resources to run both applications, and you will experience problems. Be sure you installed DX9, try setting Vista up for performance and not appearance (to conserve resources). Please post all your specs, and maybe its possible to see why your having the problem.
