    Re: New rig thread...again..

Well, great news ive got the official "ok" to go ahead on this rig, Matdef are u 100% sure that Proc is dropping like 200$ in a month? if not then i may just get the Q6600 at its current price.

I just found this deal on tigerdirect http://www.tigerdirect.com/applicati...558&CatId=2513

Verry good deal there, what do yall think?

And another question should i be ordering some artic silver thermal paste? and the mother board i have on the list from what im reading has a high risk of DOA's.. not sure if its higher risk then other boards or what.

Yes, I'm 100% sure it's dropping on July 22nd. I'd also avoid that deal and just wait a little longer to save some cash.

Yep, you're gonna need some arctic silver, just get the tiny tube on newegg.

As for the mobo, I wouldn't worry about it, yours will probably be fine.

you can also get the large tube of arctic silver 5 at radioshack. says thermaltake on the tube, but it's the same stuff. $10 for three ounces, if i remember correctly, so it's more expensive...but i mean $10 in your neighborhood store...c'mon.

Hey all, Well im ordering this through a pc builder ive known for years, I have the know how to build the pc, but im not handling those expensive parts, because if i bend a pin on the processor or something, Im absolutely screwed. Anyhow I sent him the list and he sent me back a list they had gotten, changed things around a bit.

              ASUS P5N32E PREMIUM
              INTEL QUAD CORE Q6600 2.4GHZ
              4GB DDR2 800
              SEAGATE 320GB SATA2 5YR
              BLACK 1.44
              BLACK 575W MID W/(1)260MM & (2)120MM
              MSI GEFORCE 8800GTX 768MB DDR3

              7.1 24BIT/192KHZ SUPREME FX AUDIO

The PSU they had on the list is http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817170017
Which to me is a POS(im sure it is). So what im thinking is telling them to order the psu i had originaly on my list. Let me know what yaal think please. Also another thing is they have a MID tower, with all of these large parts (ie: video card, Proc cooler) wouldent i want a full tower to promote airflow?

yeah i would definently tell them to get something a lot more reliable, a $25 psu isnt gonna come with quality written on it.

is that onboard audio? if not, you'd want to check to make sure it's a decent one before spending money.

if that's a 260mm fan + 120mm fan, i'd say you're probably good on the cooling. getting a replacement for the 260 though if you ever need one...surely you can get one somewhere. good luck.

the psu is utter garb...err...is "suboptimal. i would buy a better one"

I am for sure buying a better psu, And I think your correct on the case. The onboard soundcard is suposedly up to bar with the x-fi, ill go with this for now. If its not how i want it, ill get an xfi.

actually with the 775 socket, there are no pins on the cpu anymore. You just drop it in the socket and clamp it down with the retainer.
