Well your sure all your connections are nice and tight?

Check your bios if it is reading your HD. It should be in the CMOS section.

When your in there be sure to have everything on auto setting and what not. After you double check that reboot and look again. If it still doesn't show up then either you have a fualty connection and a defective HD or you just messed up .=P

agreed. if your bios is seeing drive, that's very important. if bios sees it, then you can make windows recognize it via some "advanced" options.

look at your bios and see whether or not the drive is properly detected. post back results.

confuzzled. does windows xp boot up normally and not recognize the drive?

or are you trying to install xp on a new hd?

only one hd plugged in? what version of xp? on some boards + old versions of xp (pre-sp2? sp1 maybe) sata drives were not recognized until you loaded sata/raid drivers via floppy.

edit: if you've got a pre-sp2 version of xp, you should slipstream a new cd once you get things up and running. perfectly legal, too. google: slipstreaming xp and click on paul theriotts (sp?) guide. it's a good one.

Are you trying to install XP while the other HD's are on? Try disconnecting them (yes, disconnect them because turning them off alone wont do the trick - I tried to install XP on my 2nd HD and removed it on my previous HD only to find it corrupted my new HD anyways. I did that by just turning off the other HD through the BIOS, what a waste of time it turned out to be...) and then running the CD-ROM boot first. Install your OS and once your set reconnect your other HD's. You ought to have the option of booting up on one or the other...

Like I said, disconnect em physically and safe yourself the time if you plan on killong the first OS... For some reason you don't get a full install of XP on your 2nd HD...

Make sure you don't have one of the settings on RAID instead of AHCI or IDE. That was my mistake.
