last time I read the E6600 owned all amd cpus. The only thing that beats the E6600 is the higher end C2d.

Now your asking about a quad?

op isn't asking about e6600, but that is a very good processor. op asked about a q6600.

quad-core = better than dual core for certain things. on bf2 it's a draw.

Yeah I know what OP asked and I was making a point. The fact of the matter is C2D's rock this worlds socks off. Then intel made an even better one (Or maybe it was just lazyness by putting 2 C2d's together and calling them a Quad) that can rock 4 socks off ppls feet at once!

Yes, BF2 is a draw because it was programmed before Quad was available. I think SC is the only game so far that utilizes the Quad core C2D...

What does utilities the Quad is someone who is big in media stuff like video editing and what not. However, from a gamers point of view, the E6600 is more than capable of doing everything supa fast at a decent price.

Then again, maybe you have money to burn? If so, I'm accepting cash, checks, credit card numbers, etc etc =P I would love to upgrade to a Quad on your behalf =D

itll be a tad higher north of the border, but probably not terribly so. those pricing projections were the deciding factor for me when i built a new pc last march. i picked up a pentium d 915 for $90 and went fairly high-end on everything else. no reason buying an e6400/6420 for $264 when a q6600 would cost the same.

only have to wait a season (mid-spring to mid-summer) to drop in a yummy quad-core. besides that, i got to get my feet wet abusing my pentium d with a pretty wild (for air, anyway) overclock.

Intel - c2d's and q2d's if at the same stock speed's eg 2.4ghz playing bf2 they're equal, if you want to be like a woman and multitask alot you would want a quad because you can multitask

shhh...don't tell top, but 'puters can do more than make pixels collide together with pretty colors to help facilitate the mental illusion that one is a "soldier".

                      it's true!!!

Erm, more and more games will be multi-threaded, so waht if i loose .2 of a GHz going Quad, i gain 2 mo' fizzlin' cores!

AMD FX62 is overpriced, heck, my £30 3700 is running way faster than the £150 FX57 through overclocking

I dunno, its very hard to create multi threaded games.

...but more and more games ARE multi-threaded - UT2007, Supreme Commander etc... 3DSMax and other workstation apps already are
