Overheating

my video card used to run at about 58 C, now it stays around 64 C, sometimes reaching 70 C when playing intensively. any way to keep it cooler other than that expensive liquid cooling stuff? i tried putting my bedroom fan beside the tower but that doesnt lower it at all. It makes me uncomfortable when it gets hot. Any ideas of cheap/innovative ways to keep it cool?

buy better GPU fan maybe? open case make sure no wires near fan stopping it or blockin airflow.

70c is not really high for a graphics card. The top recommended temp is 80c. So i don't think that it would be your graphics card as those temps seem fine.

If you can pony up the dough get a Zalman VF-900. My load temps are about 52C with it.

If you're in the northern hemisphere and you don't run your A/C bowls-to-the-wowls, then rise in ambient temps (summertime, summertime, sum-sum-sum-summertime...ding!) will have a like effect on your hardware.

Should consider cleaning the guts of your pc if it's been a while since you last cracked the case open. A buildup of dust/cat hair/carpet freshner (courtesy of the wifey, thanks hon) will accumulate inside your case over time, regardless of how sealed and filtered your case is.

And once inside, dustbunnies fornicate like crazy, also raising component temps.

yeah i agree with megawhompetoo...get a vacuum or compressed air and clean out ur case. and this is prob really risky, but open up ur video card and clean the insides of itand maybe add a new coat of thermal paste.

Replacing the TIM is not risky, but tbh it's completely unnecesary - the temps are fine for the GFX card
