First off, that system simply rox. Why you paid what you paid, probably makes sense for your situation. If I could afford it, or the situation called for it, having someone else tackle the build may be just the thing to do. Their headache, and probably a little warranty to go with the work. A year from now, rigs like this will be relatively common, and very needed to be able to run DX10 and future games. When Crysis comes out, there will be a whole bunch of current BF2 players, scrambling to upgrade rigs, in order to play it. So, you are way ahead for now. Nothing wrong with that.

The difference between Vista Home Premium and Ultimate is the business portion of the Operating System. Unless your running a business from home, you don't need all that extra business stuff, such as networking tools. Your better off to buy Home Premium for half the money, and add Office 2007 for word processing and publishing. (if you had gotten Home Basic, yeah I would question that, but Home Premium is definitely the way to go for a gaming rig)

As far as ram recognition goes, supposedly, XP can see up to 4 gigs. But I don't know anyone that has gotten past 3.5. My last rig with XP Pro (SP1), became unstable at 2 gigs, which is why I went to Vista 32, because it can actually see 4 gigs. I just built a new rig with Vista 64, it has 4 gigs, and Vista recognizes all of it. 64 is supposed to be able to see 8 gigs, which hopefully I will upgrade to next year (we'll see).

I don't claim to be the tech like the guys that built this rig, but I would be willing to bet, they chose those parts for a reason. Not here to criticize ...all I can say is ...lucky you, and I'll get there, hmmm, maybe next year.

Haha, tell me about it. The worst thing that's happened since I've been here is a shooting (involving only Turkish nationals) in the village directly off base. A few bombings in nearby Adana as well, but no major threat. I'm not complaining.

EDIT: I see my totalbf2.com ranking is "specialist", if only I put on real rank this quickly...

Living in Turkey, I get hostile fire pay but that's only 225 dollars a month. We do get separation and hazard pay, but no combat pay (I think) as I don't see combat. I'm sure you're racking up money in a major way seeing as how you guys are getting deployed often. Anyway, fight on to you and stay safe whenever you go back...

How much of that ram do you actually have control of?

I'd say XP 32/64 bit os would have been better. Do a dual boot too, so your not limited on the 64bit os.

Of course the mad part is how much it cost but since you got it half price you did very well for getting all the top o the line stuff. Though, all that ego put into it and they only give you 4x 1gb 800 mhz ram sticks? I would have imagined something more scary looking like those 2gb 1200 mhz water cooled sticks - Well, I seen that maybe in 1GB forms but I'm sure if I looked around I'd find a 2GB.

But no doubt thats an awesome rig. Make me feel like I have low end stuff now... Jerk =P lol

would have been alot cheaper to buid it yourself, plus that way you could have opted for the Q6600 and not watse money on the QX6700,

there was something funny about that rig lol, all that highend hardware and you opt for Vista Home Premium
yep very true here.... I would have gotten Ultimate and really shopped around for good deals cause all these high end parts will be outdated in a few months.
