x1950 Crossfire?

Do both cards have to be identical maker/model or can you mix them for instance i have;

do i have to buy another one ^ for crossfire or can i buy a slimmer version such as;

Best of my knowledge, you just match the cores and the bios/ccc/drivers do the rest. Edit: They're clocked differently, so you may have to sync them (ccc may do this automatically?)

Their silicon is solid (well, so far so good :) ), but Sapphire cooling generally sucks, tbh, though. Sounds like a jet engine @ speed. I weep for you, sticking a vf900-cu alongside that dustbuster.


wiki tells me you need a pair of adapters:

nout wrong with Sapphire tyvm and no problems so far i dont get alot of dust in my case anyways :p

guess it would be wiser to just get a duplicate card

Lucky you I guess. My one and only experience with a Sapphire card wasn't nice.

so far as i've been concerned, they build the cheapest reference boards around. sometimes they aren't great overclockers, and they stick dustbusters on for cooling, but they're generally fairly reliable. i've abused my x1950xt (reseating aftermarket hsf, prying off/reapplying ramsinks) and it is holding up well, and overclocking by 10&#37;.

I think for ATI they have to be the same card
