the video card honestly sucks for 3d gaming, as with almost any off-the-shelf box.

slap an x1950pro in there for $130 and BF2 is looking great.

but i'm guessing the cooler will be LOUD, so you may want to consider two-slot and (slightly) more expensive alternatives.

And with the video card you suggested, it'll be able to run it with the graphics all on high, no lag, and with a high resolution?

I don't mind the noise. I'd have headphones on, anyway.

It's a solid mid-end media pre-fab pc: reasonably fast dual core processor, large hd, 2gigabytes of memory (probably @533mhz which is a little on the slow side, but should be fine).

I always prefer to build versus buy, but if you're not going to build then that's not a terrible deal (other than your shopping from the electronics store I hate most of all :) ).

Drop that card inside and it will most likely run BF2/2142 on mostly (maybe all, depending on your idea of acceptable framerates) high--remember it's a 2 year old game now. Make sure the power supply is rated at least for 450W though or consider other alternatives.

It is a decent machine!!! Graphics card should be upgraded to at least a 7950GTX or and 8800 (stick with nVidia in that HP rig). You can go ATI but I believe the mobo chipset is also nVidia, so I like prefer to match my chips!!

You might want to pop in a Soundblaster Card, since the onboard sound is okay but not great!!!

And I second the option of buying a new card, BUT REMEMBER, with putting in a new card, most likely the PSU thats shipped with your desktop will NOT be strong enough for it, so you'll be looking to buy a PSU as well.

nonsense, why are so many people recommending only 8800's or expensive 7950 gtx's for playing on high settings. In the old days when you had an 7800gt that was enough for all settings on max and that has not changed. A x1950pro as recommended earlier will do the job for about half the price.

just incase it matters,
NVIDIA GeForce 7500 LE Graphics Card with TurboCache is the substitute for an intergrated chip, they just put it on a AGP/PCIe card and call it a graphics card.
as others recommended, youll need to get a graphics card and replace whats there to game with this pc.
My Warning on this one, PC's like this save you money and they really cut back on quality, there is a chance youll put in the new graphics card and in a week your powersupply will fail, fry itself, or better yet ruin the computer. Youll want to check what power comes out of the supply and make sure the recommendations on the graphics card dont go over that.

ABSOLUTELY! ...usually about half the price, or the same price and twice the machine. Takes a little more research, and a little effort, but heck yeah, its better to build than buy.

nah. returns + rebates + setting it up...some folks are def suited to prebuilt, especially at the $500-$700 mark.

i've almost always built, but i've also snagged store returns, rebate, and deeply discounted pc's on occasion.

saving yourself the hassles of building may be worth $100 to OP. that's a subjective analysis.

If there's a chance a new video card would cause problems, I won't even bother get it. I just want something that can play BF2 with all max. settings, really.

Could I upgrade the computer I have now? I don't think it can handle new parts, though. It's about 4 years old, P4 2.00GHz, 750mb RAM with a geforce 5200. I don't know the power supply though.

I'm only 15, so I can spend all my money on things I want, rather than need. I was looking at that topic about the prices of people's computers and saw some were $4000+. I really don't want to spend that kind of money. More like $1300 and under.
