ok i had put in an ANTEC 350w in my computer last year and just recently bought an ANTEC EARTHWATTS 500 watt supply, however when i installed the new PSU it wouldnt turn my computer on, then it turned on one time but when i shut it off i couldnt turn it back on, but when i put my other antec 350 in there it runs fine, gateway told me my computer will take over 700w PSU now why wont it load a 500??

Check the 12v rail ampage and check its sufficent. Not even my evga 680i needs 700w to fire it up.
I have had instances at work where a 850w PSU couldnt turn on a motherboard when a 350w will something was overloading it apparently. Your best bet is to test the 700w in another machine or buy another one. -

Think Sir.SAS may have misread your post.
Sounds like a faulty PSU to me. Might be a loose connection though, considering it turned on and ran fine for a while.
You could try it in another computer and if it still won't work...return/RMA asap.Comment
