Trouble with lag...

Alright I went out and bought BF2: Complete Collection the other day, got it all installed and patched. I then went and opened the necessary ports, then closed all background tasks that I was told to by the instruction manual. I then booted up the game, made my account and joined a server.

I got in and had a ping of 39. As soon as I spawned I immediately started jumping around all over the place due to lag and it was almost unplayable.

My system is equal to or well above all the recommended system specs and my internet is DSL, server I joined only had 12 players on it. Any ideas as to what might be causing this?

What exactly do you mean by that? If you mean a problem at their end, I was having no trouble with other games online, or just browsing. Same thing applies to my end.

comp specs?

the specs on the BF2 box dont really cut it anymore for Patch 1.41 1gb-2gb ram is recomended

I'll try that link, and my specs are as follows:

Processor: P4 3.0Ghz
GPU: ATI All-in-Wonder X800XL 256mb
RAM: 1GB @ 667mhz
OS: Win XP Home
Internet Connection: ADSL

If you need any more info than that let me know.

Alright I followed the majority of those tips, some I avoided due to nervousness. I haven't had the chance to try it yet but I will in about an hour.

I just thought I should mention this, but I've already patched the game to 1.41 yet when I load the game, it's listed in task manager as "Battlefield 2 v1.1.2965-797.0".

Anybody know what thats about? Thanks!
