CPU Temperature

Can anyone tell me what a cool CPU's temperature would be?

I'm running at about 40 degrees Celsius and I'm not sure whether or not that is a good temp.

Just trying to prevent any problems.

For a Core 2 Duo, I hear of 15*C - 29*C.

Me, I'm running at 54*C.

Depends on the CPU. Rule of thumb for Athlon 64 is 50C or lower under a 100% CPU load. Athlon XP and Intel C2D can go a bit higher, but over 60C is pushing beyond safe levels. Idle temps don't matter so much, but lower is always better.

My e6300 idles at about 35

A good stepping of a Core 2 Duo will idle at about 28c - 35c
A normal stepping will idle at around 40c-45c

When under 100% load, a Core 2 Duo should never go over 60c. Above that is unsafe. A good stepping will load at 45c-48c and a normal stepping will idle at 50c-55c

Yeah mine never goes over 50 at full load, so i think that's ok.

Mine 100% loads at 58c, but thats because its VCore is at 1.325 as opposed to the normal 1.3.

I'm still on the stock heatsink as well, hopefully soon I'll get one of those arctic freezer ones and be able to overclock it

Thats about max you will get on E6600. And i got the very good "B" stepping, so i get low temps. Some people have to raise their VCore to like 1.4V in order to hit 3.3ghz.
